Colleges & Universities

Four Year Public Colleges/Universities

These are institutions of higher education in the United States that receive funding from the state.  In New Hampshire, they are governed by the University System which groups 5 institutions of higher learning.  These institutions offer robust bachelors’ degree programs and some extensive graduate programs leading to master’s degrees, doctorate/Ph.D and/or professional degrees.

Four Year Private Colleges/Universities

These are (not-for-profit) institutions of higher education in the United States that don’t receive funding from the state.  Usually, these institutions have a higher concentration of out-of-state students and in some cases, international students as well.

Two Year Community Colleges

These offer programs leading to an associate’s degree.  They offer general liberal arts education and specialized technical education.
